THE IGNIS PROJECT // STAGE 1 by Matt Dampney

The St Ignatius’ College Ignis Project will commence in December 2016 with the redevelopment of the Therry building.

The design facilitates learning while supporting pastoral care of our students and celebrating our Ignatian foundations. Containing new, porous spaces that blend natural light and flexible working areas for both students and teachers, the new Therry Building will offer the best facilities for the agile, interactive and collaborative learning environment of today and tomorrow.

Teaching capacity will increase from 14 to 24 learning areas, accommodating multiple formal and informal learning settings allowing for combined classes. All of this consistent with modern 21st century teaching approaches.

Six house areas ensure complementarity between teaching and pastoral care. Facilities for support, counseling, learning and socialising, provide a place to call home for every boy. And, in the Ignatian tradition of education it will facilitate and encourage reflection and action as part of the learning process.

Graphic and striking in form, the design follows an energy efficiency hierarchy, harnessing renewable energy and passive building systems to provide a comfortable and healthy learning environment.

Operational in 2018, the new Therry building marks the beginning of the Ignis Project, an exciting new era at Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview.

It’s always good to start the week on a positive note. Well played to the Project team; Matt, Brett and Dave on another successful Quasar delivery last week to the St Matthews Church, Botany. We are looking forward to delivering more community based works within the next 12 months. The St Matthews Church, Botany is another project we have successfully partnered our friends at Midson Group and the Anglican Church.

The client specifically mentioned how proactive Quasar have been in negotiating the challenges presented on this project, and noted he would be happy to work with Quasar in future. Well done! The scope of this Casula project, was the delivery of a Shell service-station, Domino’s Pizza, Hungry Jacks, 2 additional retail outlets and a commercial space (to be offices).

This represents a continued relationship with our friends on the South Coast and our recognition of the property growth in the region. We look forward to more projects on the South Coast.

The Quasar Cadet Program in conjunction with The University of Western Sydney (UWS) is a unique opportunity for students to gain a foothold in the Construction industry and establish their careers.

Successful Cadets are carefully selected to participate in the program based on their commitment to excel through a challenging (and sometimes demanding) 18 month training program.

The Quasar Cadet program is based on a combination of formal studies, as well as structured progressions through practical workplace learning.Cadets will gain exposure and experience whilst working within a project team. Being teamed up with a Senior Projects Manager (Your Mentor), CAs and overseen by our Directors all Cadets gain a thorough understanding of what it takes to deliver a successful project.

If you believe you have what it takes to succeed and have the drive to undertake the Cadet program, Quasar would be  happy to hear from 4th year Construction Management students.
